Can somebody please explain this timeline to me?
Can somebody please explain this timeline to me?
Because I have a confession.
Last week — not even sure which day, definitely one of the days ending in “y” — something happened.
And I have no idea how.

I do not know how this keeps happening. We had a day last week. Last
Speaker:week, a couple days ago. I don't know. What day is it? Do you know?
Speaker:I don't know. One of those days. We had a day last week where we
Speaker:got 4,000 podcast downloads in one day. And
Speaker:it makes me wonder if 4,000 of you have any idea
Speaker:what you're doing or what you're getting yourself into. And I
Speaker:need you to know that as soon as I saw it and it,
Speaker:like, I just happened to refresh late at night, not like I was refreshing all
Speaker:day, because nobody does that. Who does that? That' totally nobody does that.
Speaker:I don't do that all the time. And I refreshed, like,
Speaker:late at night because I was still working. And
Speaker:it said, like, 4023 downloads. And I was like. So I like,
Speaker:immediately. Actually, I think I waited till the next morning to text our producer because
Speaker:he's five hours ahead of us, and that would have been really mean. And also
Speaker:probably, like, make his wife raise an eyebrow. Like, why is somebody texting you in
Speaker:the middle of the night? It's just me, which is not threatening at all.
Speaker:And I was like, what did you do? He was like, what do you
Speaker:mean, what did I do? You have a podcast and people are downloading it. I
Speaker:was like, no, what did you do? That cannot
Speaker:possibly be the answer. You did something. And he's like, I
Speaker:edited your podcast and put it on the Internet. That is what I did. That
Speaker:was basically the equivalent of his response, to which that was
Speaker:unsatisfactory to me. And I don't understand, like, the tubers and
Speaker:dots behind how podcasts work. And, like,
Speaker:what black market podcast dealer he's selling this thing
Speaker:to. I don't understand how this works. But if you're one of those 4,000 people
Speaker:plus, because there was not a similar. I don't think it was as many, like,
Speaker:immediately afterward. Still, more than any person with almost no goal
Speaker:should be getting. Like, it's not like I'm here, like, I'm going to use
Speaker:this for. Or I'm a marketing strategist
Speaker:parading as a monk. Like, none of those things
Speaker:are true. It's just me yapping into a
Speaker:microphone and somehow there are a lot of you here as a result.
Speaker:And that I cannot. I still can't reconcile that.
Speaker:Here's the thing. Like, we ended last year with over a hundred thousand
Speaker:downloads in, like, just over six months. Which
Speaker:again, what, How? How
Speaker:What? I'm not saying these things to brag, because I want
Speaker:people to know I'm saying these things because I am genuinely, completely
Speaker:and a hundred percent in disbelief. That is we started
Speaker:this thing and I was like, do you think we could get like, do you
Speaker:think like maybe like a hundred people will follow? I was like, I don't know
Speaker:if you've heard my voice. There's nobody who's going to voluntarily show up to listen
Speaker:to it. It's not a great experience. And so I'm saying this because
Speaker:how in the world, like what timeline are we in? This is the
Speaker:strangest timeline. So maybe that's what happens in the strangest
Speaker:timeline. We kidnap pseudo
Speaker:dictators and I have a successful podcast. That's what happens in this weird
Speaker:timeline. I don't know. But anyway, thanks for being
Speaker:here and for, you know, giving me a modicum of self
Speaker:worth based on these numbers that I have no control over. And I
Speaker:appreciate you very much Internet.
